Some students are easy to manage. Class flows well and they need only the slightest in adjustments to do what you want/need from them. But what about the others? The ones that respond to "Would you like if someone did that to you?" with "I wouldn't care." This book guides teachers and parents in more effective ways to truly connect and work WITH students to create a plan together that is both realistic and mutually satisfactory. Beyond working with students, this is a way to totally change how you think about problems with ANYone and ways to better work through those problems. I read this book on just a little over a day and would HIGHLY recommend it to everyone.
Excellent book and sound advice. Every teacher, principal and admin should read this. Great for parents who wants to help their children. If your school asks you what they can do to help your child, hand then this book. There is also website you can go to with free information and videos to follow. I'm a fan!
I am not sure what the other negative reviews on this book are about. I have been a fan of Plan B/CPS since Dr. Greene wrote The explosive child. I have worked in the school setting for the past 10 years and I have been able to implement CPS with a lot of persistence and creativity around an extremely academic setting. It has not always been easy, but that is not to fault the CPS process, just how to maneuver around all the needs in a school setting. I am so incredibly grateful that this new book came out. One thing I have found to be the most difficult is explaining this process to teachers and giving them the language to use in these conversations, as they are so use to using Plan A with kids. The language in this book has improved dramatically and I feel as though I can go back to my school with a clear and more direct way of using this with kids. Thank you!
I love this book as an educator, and as a mom. Have read as a book club at my school, and also sent to my sons' school for them to (hopefully) read. Insightful look at behavior & how we can involve children in the process of identifying concerns and finding solutions that work for all. Dr. Greene's ideas just make sense. Highly recommend!
This is such an interesting concept. I would love for schools and families to take up this plan instead of automatically wanting to label or medicate "troubled" students.

Really well explained and all the resources provided for CPS! Now if I can get my child's school to work this way... I would recommend for parents, teachers (special ed and general ed) and administration in all schools!
