The accidental release of an biological agent has reanimated the dead. Passed thru bites or fluid exchange it's now mutating. New strains infecting humans and animals alike, along with severe biological changes to the flora and fauna has made existence for the non-infected continual battle.For those familiar with Joe Ledger or Rot & Ruin will see the return of old friends , human , non-human and zombie of various types! Because this novel has some major surprises I'm going to end this with -"if you're a fan of Maberry, Joe Ledger , Team Echo, and a lover of zombies from shambles to fast moving , talking one you need to read this! I can't wait for Book Two . All this seems to be headed to one helluva epic throw down. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I didn't realize I missed Benny and his friends until I started reading this book!Gutsy is an amazing character! Can not wait for the next book!!

I would love for the author to stop with the political BS. It is ruining a series I enjoyed. I read fiction to get away from real life crap. I don’t want or need it in my FICTION.Please - stop. Stop with the extremist view. Stop with the political slant and lies. Just stop.

Poo-poo. Not believable. Pseudo history. I did not read the back story on how this book got published to begin with, my loss. Should be listed as fiction.

I had an early issue of this book several years ago. When Nat'l Geographic came out with a write-up on the subject, I looked, but did not find due credit given to Gavin Menzies. Irritating, since he was the first to bring the voyages to light. Gavin wasa submarine commander in the Aisian oceans area for many year, knows currents & so forth. His outlook on the voyages is understandable and makes sense. The first book was great, this one has way more informatiion and is one of several that Gavin has out on the voyages. I highly reccomend this, or any of his books .

Loved his detective work on the maps. He stretches to conclusions a bit overall and beyond what an academically trained historian would, but his knowledge of ocean currents and winds and the capabilities of various watercraft, supply requirements, etc., is encyclopedic. He writes withthe certainty of a military officer, which will be off-putting to some serious researchers. But if you lay aside professional prejudice for a bit and look at the invaluble, fresh newly discovered data he presents, there is much to be respected and seriously considered in his work.

I was fortunate to have found this book, years ago, while visiting NAPA, our Wine Country, close to the Bay Area. I read it, and was amazed. I followed with my own historic research into Chinese History, and hence, found this book to be factual!I wanted a Hard Cover for my library, and was/am glad you had one. CHEERS and thanks!

This book should certainly change history. Not sure why it hasn't entered the history books yet, but it should. Menzies's research supports his speculations. Very well done and pose intriguing arguments.

Brilliant book well written and a real eye opener will be reading the other books written by this author

Lots of support for the idea that the Chinese were once the worlds greatest explorers. Probably could have been half as long.

I really like the content of this book. Somewhere I have a copy of an earlier edition (from the '70s/'80s). I was excited to see that it was available in the Kindle edition.However, they were very LAZY about creating the edition. They included 2 pages face up, would wouldn't be too bad on my 30" computer monitor. However, this kindle version isn't available to download on PCs. That leaves my 5" Android smart phone. 2 pages is just laughable. You can see that something is there, but no details. Supposedly, you can tap & expand the picture, but that's only for one of the book's physical pages. Then there's my 7" Kindle Fire. Even there, the screen size is too small to see the drawings clearly, which is why I bought it.To make matters worse, the dictionary isn't even searchable! Isn't that one reason why we buy electronic books? Since the signs are grouped by topic (a good choice), you have to go to the index to find the word you want, then try to guess which page you might find it on by the Kindle "Location #" (out of 182, when there are 340 pages).To take an example, let's say I want to know the sign for Permit. I got to the index in the back and scroll to find the right word in the index (location 180). Then, I need to go to page 128. There are links to the correct page, but with the size of the words in the index, can I really get the word I want? (Answer: Sometimes yes, other times no.) If the link doesn't work, then I need to use a scroll bar to get to Location 66. (There's no Go To option to type in the location.)All in all, the Kindle version is HORRIBLE!

The Joy of Signing: The New Illustrated Guide for Mastering Sign Language and the Manual Alphabet is an essential guide to learning the basics of sign language. This book was bought for my young daughter as she showed an interest in being able to at least know a few basics if she encountered some one who could not hear. She has used this book countless times and even gave a small demo on the signs used for various animals to a group of her peers. This is a must have when learning and a great reference point when you need it.

i bought this for my youth minister at church. he works with the kids a lot and i thought he might find it useful!!! i have one too and i used it a lot when i was teaching at a montessori school a few years ago. it is a great book. i guess sometime i should update and get a newer one but this one is so easy to use. i had my students learn several songs in sign language they loved it.

middle "ground" learners of sign language. I have taught sign language and deaf culture for over 35 years plus interpreted for the deaf and I have observed that many ppl find this book the easiest introduction to sign. Lest someone jump on this, I don't pretend to do ASL, but rather use PSE and prefer it. I am hard of hearing myself. Love this book. Kinda wish there would come a new edition soon.

I am happy with the content as I am able to find the words and instruction are easy to follow but the image and word are not adjustable and it is hard to read. I am using a Samsung tab3 10'. I would not want to image viewing this on my son's 7' tablet,I am sure it will bend hard to read or recognize information.

The kindle version of this book is small printed unlike all the other kindle books I have. I find it difficult to read and will have to end up buying the hard copy instead.

It was a used book and it was in good condition and I will be able to use it to refresh my signing

This kindle edition is impossible to read. It is all so tiny. I have the book but wanted the kindle edition for easy access. I have other signing books on kindle that are easy to read but not as complete as the Joy of Signing. I would like a refund unless you can correct the copy into something readable.

This review can be found on my blog, Reader Rayna, as well as Goodreads.This short story had me holding my breath and my heart racing. I thought that this was such a better short story than the last, and I was not disappointed.This story follows the handmaiden, Despina, and the Captain of the Royal Guard, Jalal. Both of these individuals have their own tasks with which they have to think about and attend, and then when they run into each other one day, it seems like it just goes from there.Despina, though I was weary of her in The Wrath and the Dawn, turned out to be a really intelligent young woman with a strong will and a sharp tongue, and this short story definitely continued to show that. I enjoyed reading from Despina's point of view to see what it was like serving the calipha and her interactions with Jalal. It was funny at first, playful even, and then things became more serious as time progressed.Even Jalal was likable in this story! I don't really remember what I felt for him when I read the main book, but in this one we got to see a couple glimpses from his point of view and we got to learn a little bit more about him and his... "reflections." He's funny and tries to be charming, and I love how Despina can disarm him with her own retorts.What made me really enjoy this was the heart racing moments they had together, for sure. There was one scene in particular that I was like, "Yesyesyes!" I also enjoyed reading about Despina's interactions with the calipha because we got to see a little bit of who this girl was before the things that happened in the main book. I wish that their relationship could have turned into somewhat of a friendship, but it didn't happen that way.I just wish that the last chapter could have been a little different? I'm not really sure what I was expecting... Well, I do know what I was expecting, but it didn't happen the way I hoped, so I'm disappointed only in that aspect, haha! But otherwise I think that seeing the progression of time and feelings was useful. I only wish there could have been one more chapter in between the last two to further dive into Despina's, and even Jalal's, feelings of one another.Overall, I think this short story added to the main one because we got to get more from two of the important side characters. I loved this a lot and highly recommend it if you've read The Wrath and the Dawn.I rate this short story 4.5/5 stars.

Deciding I would read Renee Ahdieh’s The Rose and the Dagger as my next read, I first decided I would read the mini novellas that she wrote to help myself get reacquainted with the world again! The Moth and the Flame is the first one of these novellas and was so far quite entertaining!This story here tells us of how Despina and Jalal meet. Granted, since I need to see if I can find a summary/recap of book one I can’t quite remember these characters well. But even when reading this one, I felt the tiny tickles of memory kicking in! Despina is a strong willed young woman who will not be swayed the “playboy” guard, Jalal. But sadly, she falls victim to his whims. But the same can be said of Jalal. He’s not used to hearing no from a pretty girl and Despina intrigues him.We see Despina interact a little with one of the fated wives but soon we see her death and the horrors that will continue to take place afterwards. And of course we end the story with the twist that brings Despina and Shazi together!Overall, a fun little read that is sure to delight fans of the series and wanting to know more about our secondary characters!Overall Rating 4.5/5 stars

Renee is one of my most all-time favorite authors. I first read her work of “The Wrath and the Dawn” and fell in love with the beautiful earthly and rich style of her writing. She breathes such colors and life into the pages, and I am swept away. Naturally from the start, I had a soft spot for both Despina and Jalal, and when I found out Renee was writing this, I HAD TO PREORDER!I was not disappointed. It was everything I hoped about Jalal and Despina and more. Renee created such endearing characters whose wit and yet yearn for love made them so addicting. I love the story of these two so much. I am fangirling…In the same manner, Renee’s “The Moth and the Flame” is just as beautiful as the rest of her piece of works. I love how Jalal and Despina met, loved their banter and wager, and finally, loved their love.There aren’t many female characters in stories that have such strength and intelligence as Despina, and I loved her from the start of “The Wrath and the Dawn.” Seeing her here is such a treat. I loved how this story unfolded, connected, and weaves towards “The Wrath and the Dawn”, and in its way, also connects to the highly anticipated, “The Rose and the Dagger”. I did not want the short story to end, but as most stories, I understand another chapter must close for another one to begin. Thank you for such a lovely story, Renee! I can’t wait for the release of “The Rose and the Dagger”!

In the thousands & thousands of books I have read, never have I found a retelling of a story so captivating that I have not only read it once but as soon as I purchased all of the published novella's plus the books 1 & 2 (& pre-ordered 3) that I started reading it again. Mrs. Ahdieh brings you deep into her characters lives, you feel what they feel, each one is well developed that each are easily believed to have been the original characters. The story follows so wonderfully that you are trapped and cannot escape until the last word. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this version of the A Thousand and One Nights! Book Hangover 10+ because I'll reread this many times & pre-ordered the next!

As a longtime author and creative writing teacher, my shelves are filled with texts about crafting poetry, fiction, and nonfiction for adults. After writing a children's picture book manuscript recently, a new genre for my pen, I was searching for a text specifically geared for picture book authors and others who write for youth. Tracey E. Dils' book more than met my expectations. Her tone is straightforward and inviting, and the chapters are organized exceptionally well.I found her chapters on picture book writing (chapter two), nonfiction (chapter five), preparing a manuscript and finding an agent and/or publisher (chapters 6-8) particularly of use and jam-packed with helpful advice. Even better, there are two appendixes which include helpful charts on children's developmental stages as well as lists of numerous writing organizations, resources on the internet, and children's writers newsletters and periodicals. There are also great chapters on beginning and chapter books as well as middle grade and YA writing that are well worth an author's time.The chapters end with "Tips from the Top" and "Inspiration Exercises" that I can't wait to take for a spin. I would also consider using this as a text for one of my creative writing classes sometime, as she walks writers through foundational considerations of everything from how to get started and edit to how to craft query and cover letters when pitching a manuscript to agents and publishers.While this is a slender volume at 170 pages, it carries a great worth in knowledge that even a novice writer in children's writing will find instructive and helpful. I know that I plan on keeping it close at hand as I edit and then submit my manuscript. I consider this book a wise investment in my writing, and I'd heartily recommend it to other writers.

Several years ago I bought the workbook by the same author and title, You can Write Children’s Books. That publication helped write a chapter book that will also be a series. At the moment, I trying to write a picture book and wanted a guide. So, I decided to read the book You can Write Children’s Book and I have not been disappointed; the text have given me ideas how to complete my project and improve the existing manuscript. In addition, the author presents examples query letters; that are hard to find. More importantly, the text improved my confidence in the project that I am working on. Some of the information in book is dated, like writing letters to get writing guidelines(you can get that online these days), but the author's advice will help you write children books, if that is your passion.

What a great book and a delightful read! I am working on my first Children's picture book and I found this book super helpful! My favorite section was Look Like a Pro where Tracy outlines different ways to polish your story and query for editors and agents. My only critique is that the last copy write was 2009. PLEASE DO A NEW EDITION THIS BOOK IS WONDERFUL!

In preparing our new book, NOT ALL HEROES ARE ON TV, I read many books. This book was one of the first. I found every page necessary learning. As an elementary teacher for 27 years and a principal for 10 years, I had a rather good idea where to go with a book. But Tracey Dils' book really woke up my ideas. Her woksheets within chapters make the "how to" very easy. I found the guidance on query letters way beyond my knowledge. Applying that information brought me a positive response.

This was a very generous book with the kind of specific information you need to actually write a children's book and the reasons why.
