My 4-year old nephew loves this story, so I bought him this version for his 4th birthday. We have two other versions (a really creepy old one and a newer, confusing-to-read one). This one is great; He wanted me to read it immediately! The illustrations are fabulous, engaging, and creative. I am a teacher, so I really appreciate that the visuals promoted engaged reading and discussion of the text. I also love that this book mostly maintains the classic story (the ending is altered) while adding innovative illustrations that add so much to the story. This is my new favorite version. It is adorable!One last note...In the back, they have included some tips on how to make this a more educational experience for kids. It is a good place to start if you aim to engage your kids a bit more.

My dad used to sing me this song as a child. I wanted a book to pass along to my kids that had similar words - and this is almost exactly it, except with a nicer ending. All of my kids love it!

Some of the lyrics have been changed to make the book "safe", including ruining the punchline! Instead of " I know an old lady who swallowed a horse... She's dead, of course," it ends, "she's full, of course!"

Got this and all the other sing-along books I could find because my toddler loves to sing them. Worth it for the variety and to be able to sing something other than Miss Mary Mack 20 times a day.

The ending has been sterilized slightly, but it still is a great and funny song with hilarious illustrations.

One of my daughter's favorite books as a young child. So much fun to read! I buy this book for every baby born among my family and friends. And my cousin's one year-old seems to think it tastes as good as it reads.

However my almost 2 year old is now TERRIFIED of flies. So that is not good. We hid the book and will try again in 6 months.

When putting together Easter baskets for my children I knew I wanted to add in books. We love to read and when looking for easter themed books I found this one and figured it looked cute. We have read this book quite a few times and it is a cute story. If you are looking for a book to add to your little one's easter basket this is a perfect addition!

7 year old granddaughter loved it. Paired it with the Easter Barbie in her basket.

Like most Barbie books, the plot is lacking...most character children's books are simply written to sell more Barbie stuff...not to win a Caldecott Medal. However my 4 year old was quite impressed when the easter bunny left this in her basket. Beautiful illustrations and the stickers are great! They are nice big stickers that correlate with the story.

well done and useful with just the right amount of background

Really good book.The Web page for the book with examples does not seem to be available at the URL provided in the book.

Surprisingly, when Iphones were still magical devices with no real competition from android phones, this book captured the sense of possibility of the device - as if you really owned a tricorder and could launch homemade rockets. It's okay. I felt that it was introductory about getting your feet wet and it also indicated how powerful the device is for people with the engineering education and awareness of how to ... weaponize the iphone. But it is just a glimpse. You still need to be educated to really use it as this book hints that the device is very powerful. In my opinion, most people are going to download apps and that's it. But x number of years ago, there were not as many apps hence this book. It does not really tell you how to whip something up. It only tells you it is possible.

The book has lots of great examples of programming your iPad/Iphone using a language called techBASIC.techBASIC is used to avoid the need for a full-blown development system using Objective C and does not require payment to Apple to join the developer program. The first few projects are based only on the iOS devices internal sensors such as accelerometer and magnetometer.Some caveats:1. The most projects require external hardware that must be purchased separately. For example, some use a $25 sensor from Texas Instruments. Others use a model rocket.2. The book only gives you access to pre-made techBASIC programs. To write your own or modify the ones in the book requires the purchase of the full-blown app for fifteen bucks on the app store.My other issue is that the techBASIC language itself is a little cumbersome or maybe ugly is a better word. I wished it was cleaner and more Python like and I think that would make it more approachable for the newcomer to programming.Overall it is a good book with very good projects.

I've always thought Apple missed a major opportunity by not releasing an SDK for the iPod nano 5G when it first came out. It's kind of a moot point now because the BeagleBone Black and Raspberry Pi are a lot cheaper and aren't tied to an ecosystem that's designed to enforce stability at all costs, but iOS still has a fair amount to recommend it. So, if you need a book for that... this isn't quite it. (But it'll probably serve your purpose anyway.)See, this book is mistitled. It's actually a book about the TechBASIC environment and how to use it to interact with the outside using something other than the Lightning port. The language itself is a commercial product available through the App Store, but it happens to interface with a number of peripherals, including the HiJack (a serial interface for the headphone port) and the TI SensorTag via Bluetooth Low Energy, as well as the sensors built into iOS devices. There's also some vehicle automation, including packing an iPhone into a model rocket for data gathering and controlling a model truck via Arduino and Bluetooth LE, and an iPad Pong game using two iPhones as controllers. (The tricorder bit is basically the up-and-running chapter at the beginning, covering datalogging basics.) I want to criticize the use of third-party commercial software in a book meant for makers, but to be honest, the realities of the iOS environment mean this is probably about the best way to go about using iOS for maker projects.So... if you know what's actually in the book, it will do its job fairly well. I have been looking for this exact type of story for a very long time.I am a high schooler of the 80s with "Sixteen Candles" still being one of my favorite films. I also watched a soap opera in 1983 where the popular guy fell for the shy and lonely girl.I like how Alice and Brian had been such close friends growing up until that dreadful period of life called junior high hit. One of the two best friends starts going up the popularity social ladder leaving his once buddy behind and alone.I never was in the "in" group even during my elementary years but my best friend was. She found herself left behind. It really hurt her emotionally to the point that her mother made her see a counselor.Alice lost Brian as he moved up the social ladder leaving her on her own. By the time both hit high school, Alice has hidden herself so well that classmates whom they grew up with since elementary have even forgotten she even exists.The novella does not go into a huge amount of angst back and forth. I find that aspect very refreshing. Ms Dallen states the facts and weaves a story of how once childhood friends can return to each other in friendship and much more.Highly recommend!

A sweet, friends-to-enemies-to-sweethearts story. I liked how both of the main characters secretly regretted how their friendship had ended but realized that they’d both played a part in it. It wasn’t only one of their faults, like one of them thought. I also liked how they came to realize this and admitted their role, and how they could change it. I also liked how they both supported the other when stepping out of their comfort zones. Even though the story was predictable, it was well-written and the author didn’t fall back on the cliches so many YA books do; there were no mean girl revenge plots, or mean guys playing pranks. It was just a sweet romance between two people who’d grown up together, along with most of the kids around them.

What started out as a kind of sad book about lost friendship turned out to be a very cute and fun book about rediscovering your best friend - and knowing he is really just as awesome a person as you always knew he could be. Come along with Alice and Bryan as they remember all the best things about each other while they write a brand new future together. You’ll remember your own high school romance and relive that first kiss, your first love, and hope that Alice and Bryan make it.

I really appreciated how the characters motivations made sense, and how each step along their path was rooted in who they were and how they saw the world. Several of the best friend turned enemies turned romantic relationship stories just don't make sense. This split felt real and that it was something they had to deal with. ...Though it felt too short.

I seldom read YA books I’m so far beyond being in the focus age group I need a passport to enter that country. However, I have read read and enjoyed other books by the author soI decided to give it a try. I’m really glad I did because the story is filled with great characters and humor. Very enjoyable and recommended.

Another great read by Maggie Dallen! First they were friends now they are enemies but one lie and one kiss could quickly changes all that the theater geek and the jock king another great read you don’t want to miss.

A wonderful friends to enemy to discovering their true feelings story with lots of getting to know about themselves along the way.
