I have been learning to play duplicate bridge for three years and own 20 bridge books (wow I didn’t realize I have accumulated that many until now!) and this one is one of the most helpful. I’ve got to the point where I know many things by theory but often make mistakes at the table. I want to learn how to think, reason, and make the right choices at the table. This book points the way. What helped me most are how to continue re-evaluating my hands while bidding is going on, the Opening Lead, the Art of Signaling and Competitive Bidding.

The Kindle edition suffers from careless typesetting, almost as though it were computer generated with nobody checking the final product. Some of the more common errors include mixing up the symbols for suits (e.g., a club instead of a spade), weird spacing ("1 0 876" instead of "10 8 7 6"), and character substitutions (such as "I" or "l" instead of "1"). Having to cope with these frequent errors makes reading the examples and exercises a real chore. As for content and writing style, I agree with the other reviewers that this book is a gem. If it weren't for the sloppy editing, I'd have awarded five stars.

The topics are ones for intermediate and advanced players. Good explanations and examples are given. When it was translated for kindle spades are sometimes listed as clubs. Also the 4 hands come out on different pages making it hard for the reader to concentrate. The worst thing is not being able to see the complete bidding.

A lovely book for the "serious beginner." Dorothy Truscott -- for years head honcho of the New York Times bridge column -- does indeed stress thinking rather than reacting at the bridge table. For example, would you support a bad bid by upping it? Yet many people do. Not every bid belongs to you and partner, and not every hand is bound for game. Think! This book helps you do just that, with humor and common sense.

This is a great book for a novice or an intermediate player like me. The information is laid out very concisely with helpful quizzes at the end of each chapter.

A succinct guide to bidding and play. I hadn't played for nearly 40 years and Truscott's book brought me up to date on the bidding conventions in common use today. Playing techniques for both offense and defense are covered. This guide should improve your play if you are needing a brush up but may impose too steep of a learning curve for a beginner.

The author is a well known bridge player of some stature. The book is well written with some humor, although some of the concepts are outdated. What I found disturbing was the lack of editing. It needs to be edited by someone familiar with the game in order to correct some of the typos. When I complained to Amazon, I received a form letter. "Thanks for writing with your comments regarding the typographical errors .It is certainly not our intention for our customers to have anything but a pleasant experience using Kindle and Kindle applications. I apologize for any inconvenience caused in this regard. " Not very satisfying.Still the book is worth reading.

Dorothy Hayden Truscott is the best bridge teacher in the world! Makes perfect sense & improved my game tremendously!

“This is easily the best book in the World of Warcraft series, and I don’t say that lightly. . . . It’s so much more than a tie-in novel. . . . It’s a beautiful book.”—Blizzard Watch

Amazing book with alot of good set piece moments that reunites characters and allows them to finally have closure that has to this point been absent. There are several moments that are very tear jerking and makes you feel for the characters in the moment. Sadly most of the positive events and best parts of the book are exclusive to the Alliance side and one short side story, the Horde perspective parts well.....they almost all written in a way that makes it very clear that 'Sylvanus is not good and they REALLY want you to know that' so if you were hoping for some insight or possible intrigue that makes the actions of the Banshee Queen something you could understand or empathize with well you wont find it here. Conclusion good read not my favorite thats a toss up between Warcrimes and Illidan but theres a VERY CLEAR 'Anduin wants everyone happy' which I don't mind i'm a sucker for a altruist and 'Sylvanus IS BAD and you should think shes BAD'.

This book is difficult for me to review, but I shall try to give it an honest shot. As a member of the Horde, my feelings on the book may be biased, but I shall try to manage this as best I can. ;-)Overall, it displays excellent writing, which we have come to expect from Christie Golden. The characters interact very fluidly and naturally, and their dialogue is simply superb. I rather enjoyed Anduin's character for the most part, along with many other Alliance characters. Some of the Horde characters were strong, too, but others, important ones, were done a disservice, in my view.I imagine it must be difficult to write such a book that entwines itself with a game in which so many people invest their time and efforts. Finding a perfect balance in every book is likely impossible, and the books are occasionally going to lean towards one faction or another (especially since the next expansion is based upon the Alliance and Horde resuming their long-running battle after having worked together so hard against the legion). This book is very much swayed towards the Alliance. I say this not as a Horde player, but as a reader. It wouldn't be an issue if it felt like the Horde characters were allowed the same level of character depth and development that the Alliance had been, but, alas, this is not the case. I wasn't expecting this when I bought it, as I did hope for a bit more balance and fair treatment of the two factions. In some moments, I felt like the righteousness of the Alliance was a bit overdone, but I must confess that this statement could stem from personal feelings of a Horde player! As a reader, it's a very good book, and I like it for all the qualities I like most books. As a member of the Horde, I must confess disappointment. I'm saddened to see the direction they've decided to go with this story. Still, the book rates a solid 4 stars, as it is another great book from the pen (do they still use pens?) of Christie Golden.

I enjoyed this book, but would like to warn people that it has a very specific purpose: to educate you about the characters and political environment leading into World of Warcraft's Battle for Azeroth expansion (released on Aug. 13th, 2018),The story alone is pretty slow and isn't really all that good. Much of the narrative is spent describing the people involved, including their past events in the WoW lore. The best way I can put this is that if you weren't playing WoW, the story would be somewhat boring and not very interesting. That being said, I enjoyed the book because I'm fairly new to WoW and nearly all of the information presented was new to me. I learned quite a bit of the lore and am now much better prepared to understand and enjoy the expansion. If that's your goal, then this will be a great book. Otherwise I don't recommend it.

Not a bad read for this genre. The writing was good and it kept me interested until the end. I would even encourage fans of the Horde to read it. It confirmed for me that the new WoW expansion is going to be revolve around a ruthless Horde warchief who tries to use an exotic substance to destroy his/her enemies. Sound like a reboot of a prior expansion?

Something I've always loved about World of Warcraft is how there is no true right or wrong side of the Alliance/Horde conflict. They each have their own justifiable reasoning for their actions. The same still holds true for this book. We can see how decisions were reached, even if we may not agree with them. It's a fine balance, making both sides relatable, and Christie Golden has done a excellent job at that. This book also read almost like a mystery: we knew something terrible was going to happen but we're kept waiting to the very end for the "who done it". Which side was responsible for starting the Battle for Azeroth? I had my guesses, but I didn't see the end coming, not like that.Excellent book, although (obviously) only for WoW fans. I don't see anyone else being quite as impacted as we are.

This was a surprisingly good book. The story was well paced, the main characters well developed and rounded. The end was a bit anticlimactic but I understand that it will be continued further in the game, which is awesome. It lays the ground for the coming conflict between the Alliance and the Horde. Anduin, whom has been continuously reviled in the past, has become an empathetic character and you cannot help but sympathize with him. Watching him stand up against Sylvanas without flinching speaks volumes about his character and, despite being a Horde player, I cannot but feel respect for his courage and moral ground. Like any book, it has its drawbacks and shortcomings; regardless, I still enjoyed it greatly and suggest you give it a go as well.

I enjoy this mangaka quite a bit. She writes solid stories with compelling characters. Like most of her works, this is a slow burn romance (rivals to lovers). There is a natural evolution to the relationship and it’s not toxic. Each chapter has a good flow and balance to it. There is steady character growth as the story progresses. The banter between Onoe and Kaburagi is enjoyable. The overall story arc progresses nicely, and I am looking forward to the next installment. The artwork is on point. The translation is well done (Sublime does good work). The lettering and formatting (in general) is excellent.

I love this mangaka, so ordering this was a no brainer even though I wasn't familiar with it already. It's adorable, and I really enjoyed the story. Clean translation, lovely art. Definitely getting volume two.

Followed it online and I am looking out for more books from this author whose manga I adore so much!

Candy Color Paradox is one of the rare ones of its genre in that it does provide a story beyond the romance of the characters. The plot isn't deep - it's about investigative journalists, the cases they take on, and what they have to do in order to get the scoop. It's the typical enemies to lovers scenario, though, with two clearly bisexual, not gay, leads. Expect a lot of bickering, a lot of foot stomping "I hate him!" and then some sudden kisses in cars between.Story: Onoe is an investigative writer going to learn how to stakeout scoops - something he has no interest in but is forced by his employer to undertake. He is matched up, much to his disgust, with Kaburagi, an experienced journalistic photographer. Turns out Kaburagi stole his girlfriend and pretty much looks down on Onoe. But as the two start working together, sparks fly.The writing isn't going to win any awards but at least there were plenty of 'undercover' work plots to allow the romance to develop over several chapters. Does the movie star have mobster connections? Is the construction company getting grafts? etc. The original premise of our leads is that Onoe finds Kaburagi's lack of conscience over how he gets his inside scoops distasteful - and Kaburagi finds Onoe's morals irritating. It leads to both being frustrated and, of course, Onoe has an automatic dislike of Kaburagi from the beginning since he believes he stole his girlfriend. The illustration work is fine and assured and easy to follow. The story does feel that it drags in places and no one is going to confuse this with having any aspect of realism or being grounded. But those who enjoy the 'enemies to lovers' trope will find this interesting. Reviewed from an advance reader copy provided by the publisher
